“blues blues”
This collection is comforting by approaching the known, traditional, and timeless artistry of cable knits into a playful and contemporary sense. Drawing inspiration from the deep-rooted Irish heritage and traditions associated with cable knits, I aim to blend modern sensibilities with their rich history. The beauty and versatility of these patterns are showcased through influences from Irish nature, translated into earthy tones such as deep blues and rich browns. The essence of the cable knit is highlighted by exploring it through innovative techniques, with a focus on illusion and structure. This is expressed in sturdy yet soft knits that feel like a solid fog—familiar to the wearer, yet evocative of mystery. Designed to provide comfort and warmth for outdoor activities, the knitwear communicates profound tradition in a contemporary and playful manner. This approach not only ensures functionality but also stimulates a sense of community among the wearers, encouraging them to be an integral part of this unique and tradition-infused knitwear community. The project is made to last, using strong, durable yarns derived from natural materials, with the intention of being passed down to future generations. Produced on an industrial machine, they strike a balance between using luxurious yarn while remaining affordable for young people. These pieces are knitted to create lasting memories in outdoor settings.

This project integrates digital knitwear development using Shima Seiki’s APEXFiz. I produced swatch simulations and a 3D garment prototype, showcasing technical skills in virtual sampling and enabling faster experimentation and visualization before physical sampling.
